Resource monitoring

Through mudflat enclosure, reforestation, restoration, protection, crackdown on illegal behaviors such as forest damage and legal enforcement, the reserve initiates resource management in order to protect mangrove resources and its biodiversity.

A total of 2,000 ha have been planted during the previous 10 years. Mangrove wetland was restored in an effective way by increasing mangrove area to 7800 ha from 5800 ha recorded in 1980s.

The formulated and implemented ZMNNR Master Plan and ZMNNR Management Plan provided experience for the reserve who undertakes business and management according to functions of each area.

Reserve construction

Activities of the reserve construction include: (1) Boundary demarcation of ZMNNR.A total of 68 areas were demarcated with protective area amounting to about 17000 ha. (2) Formulation of Master Plan and Management Plan of ZMNNR, which provided strong technical support to scientific construction and management of ZMNNR. (3) Construction of the headquarters of ZMNNR and two management stations.(4) Fabrication and installation of information panels and boundary markers for ZMNNR. So far 20 information panels and 350 boundary markers have been installed at important areas within the boundary of ZMNNR. (5)Launch of the reserve website.
