The calm wave due to location at Yinluo estuary and numerous mudflats create conditions advantage to mangrove growth. With 15 families and 25 species of mangroves, the contiguous area of mangrove reaches 30,000 mu. Based on estimation, each year up to 50000 tourists visit the mangrove area which is a good destination for holiday and environmental education for students. It provides perch and forage sites for hundreds of thousands of migratory birds flying southwards from Russia via Leizhou Peninsula. It therefore provides an optimal site for plenty of bird-watching lovers.

Mangrove area at Techeng Island

Techeng Island is a location where you can find old mangroves. It said that the oldest mangrove over there is around 400 years old. Featured with Avicennia marina, mangroves create a beautiful picture together with beaches, fishmen, fishing boats and villages.

Located at estuary of three rivers, the mountain is given the name due to its coop-like shape. The fertile mudflat is suitable for the growth of mangroves. Over there you can find lots of mangrove species ranging from Aegiceras corniculatum at the front site and Heritiera littoralis on the land. As a desired site for mangrove study, it is also a good place for holiday where tourists can admire both mountain and wetland beauty. Regretfully, traffic to the scenic spot is not very convenient.
